So after much debate (within my own mind of course- I tell ya, the Gemini in me was going berserk!), I’ve finally selected the gorgeous Master Bedroom at Bayview House as my favourite room!
Why? As mentioned, this room gives me all the good feels. It is the perfect fusion of classic and contemporary and moody and light.
The Master Bedroom pays such respect to its period features but also references hints of modernity which are combined effortlessly.
The grand leadlight window which oozes natural light paired with the two-toned window treatment, a nod to the talent of Arent and Pyke, work perfectly together and were chosen deliberately to repeat the story of dark and light that is evident throughout the home.
The perfectly restored fireplace and decision to use a stone hearth instead of the traditional tile as well as the decision to play with colour intelligently particularly featuring the grand skirting boards and cornices, another example of a well considered twist to play period with modern.
The plush wool carpet is so nurturing under foot, the armchair and side table an ideal place to read the morning paper with a cup of tea and don’t even get me started on the adjoining walk in robe and light, organic and unbelievably cool sanctuary-like ensuite.
I have to say I am a fully fledged bed ledge convert! I have to say I had admired the idea of them for a while but the pragmatist in me has always been pro bedsides.. Until now…! Well actually until I was fortunate to work alongside Justine aka @thenorthcotestylist to style the home for photography. We even brought a pair of bedsides into the space as it was a hot topic and as soon as we did we knew the ledge was all we needed. The bedsides only added a heaviness and detracted from the beautiful stone topped bed ledge and there actually was no real purpose for them as everything you would ordinarily pop on a bedside table, you can just pop on the ledge! The height of the ledge is functional and provides an apt location to feature artwork, greenery and those few precious keepsakes which also adds another design dimension.
Now I couldn’t talk about the Master Bedroom without mentioning the incredibly inviting bed linen that was chosen. The choice to layer the bed in linen fabrics and keep the bedding quite simple in terms of palette and styling was deliberate again with that play of modern living meets grand Master Bedroom.
I’m sure most of us dream about having our bedroom feel like our very own sanctuary and when I walk into this room I instantly feel at ease and calm and wish that I could transport this room into my own house to create my own little sanctuary.
Bayview Master Bedroom you are a big tick in my book! x
