book of the week!

Rebeka_Kribashini_Seville2

Welcome to our "Book of the Week" resources page!

An avid book reader and member of a weekly book club, Rebeka's love of books also includes any that are architectural, interior design or in any way related to the way we live in our homes in nature.

We started sharing on our Insta stories books we love on a Sunday but it seems that 24 hours of promo is just too fleeting... so we are giving them a more permanent home right here on our website too.

There's still nothing quite like holding a book in your hand! Whether you pick one up at a bookshop or get it delivered in the mail, that new book smell and fresh crisp pages are just wonderful, aren't they?

We hope you enjoy our little book reviews and if you have a book you think we should be talking about, then reach out to us at info@buildhercollective.com.au to let us know.

Xx

Rone LR

Rone by Mo Wyse (Editor) & Julia Baird (Contributor)

Last year our team went to Dandenong to check out Rone’s latest amazing exhibition and it did not disappoint! So when the opportunity came to buy a book of his work I jumped at the chance to buy John a Fathers Day present. LOL, a gift that gives back! Rone’s work is amazing and so is this book - I love it! What a talent and a gift and such an interesting read. I highly recommend it! Follow Rone on Instagram @r_o_n_e

Kitchen Culture

Kitchen Kulture by Michelle Galindo, Sven Ehmann & Robert Klanten (Editors)

Ha!! What else would we have as part of our book collection. This book is interesting as it discusses the history of kitchens and how the meaning of the use of kitchens has changed over time. The book takes you through both residential and commercial kitchens & the inception of kitchen items. For example, the inception of the pedal bins introduced by VIPP Kitchen, Copenhagen in the 1930s!! If you are thinking of or currently renovating or building your kitchen then you'll enjoy this one! Also comes highly recommended by our very own kitchen queen, Rachel!!

Still

Still - The Slow Home
by Natalie Walton

Bought in the middle of Corona to see what it would be like to slow down. A women’s ambition to go back to basics, to live more aware of our surrounds and the impact we are having on the environment in this modern world. Just to simplify life and appreciate. I loved this book & their story. The homes featured are earthy, simply and beautiful!

Floret Farm's Cut Flower Garden by Erin Benzakein, Julie Chai & Michele M Waite (Photographer)

This weeks book is actually one that was recommended by a friend when I was trying to create a centrepiece for our table. I can see why!!! It is full of really practical (and seasonal) arrangements and is such an amazingly lovely book. Makes it look like I could actually do some flower arranging and growing!

We love love this book and recommend it and its friend "A year in flowers". If only I had some time at home to practice arranging flowers! She honestly looks so easy and achievable.

Lair LR

Lair by Chad Oppenheim, Andrea Gollin (Editor)

Amazing concept here! Radical Homes and Hideouts of Movie Villains. This book features some of the villain greats and I thought it would be a winner for John – its quite a masculine book. Unfortunately the book is silver text printed on black paper and I found it hard to read and focus on, but that could have just been me on the day! If you're into bad guys, villains and their crazy houses - check it out! Find Oppenheim Architecture on Insta @oppenheimarchitecture
